Football once again served as a bridge among our communities: a space for gathering,
friendship, and shared celebration among Argentines in Norway and Iceland. The Embassy of
the Argentine Republic in Norway extends its gratitude to everyone who participated and
joined each gathering to enjoy these moments together.
During the recent Football World Cup, the Argentine community in Norway and Iceland came
together to support the National Team and share the passion that defines us. Throughout the
tournament, families, students, residents, and friends of our country organized gatherings in
different cities to watch the matches, share traditional meals, and experience each stage of the
championship together.
In Oslo, the gatherings brought together dozens of people for every match, creating a festive
and welcoming atmosphere. Meetings were also held in Bergen, Trondheim, and Tromsø,
where Argentines and Norwegians followed the games with enthusiasm. In Reykjavík, the
Argentine community in Iceland organized its own meeting spaces, demonstrating that the
passion for football accompanies us even in the most Arctic regions of the planet.
The World Cup left a shared source of pride: Argentina finished as runner-up, once again
showcasing the talent, dedication, and spirit that characterize our National Team. The
Argentine community celebrated every match with joy and emotion, strengthening the ties
that unite us beyond distance.
We congratulate Spain on its championship title and Norway on its remarkable performance,
which sparked renewed enthusiasm among local fans. The Norwegian team’s progress was
also celebrated by the Argentine community, reinforcing the sporting and cultural bond
between both countries.
