The Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Bosch, visited Norway between August 21th and 24th, 2018 in order to participate in the Fair Nor-Fishing, one of the largest exhibitions of fishing technology in the world that gathers much of the international fishing industry. The Undersecretary had an agenda focused on the increase of bilateral cooperation, the renewal of fishing vessels and the development of aquaculture in Argentina.

Within the framework of the Fair, the Undersecretary held meetings with the Minister of Fisheries of the Kingdom of Norway, Harald Tom Nesvik, the Director General of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Vidar Landmark and the Director of the Marine Research Institute, Sissel Rogne. In these meetings, there was a dialogue about the experience of both countries in the management of the sector and different alternatives were explored in order to increase bilateral cooperation. Also, the possibility of generating cooperation projects between INIDEP and its Norwegian counterpart in particular in relation to aquaculture research was addressed.

The Undersecretary held a series of meetings related to the financing of fishing vessels with important Norwegian companies, banks and credit agencies. In relation to this project, the Undersecretary visited the local shipyard of the company Vard.

On the other hand, and within the framework of the important Norwegian experience in sustainable aquaculture, the Undersecretary visited a salmon farm of Lerøy, one of the most important in the country and met with companies of the sector, among them the Norwegian Akvaplan -Niva, who is conducting a study in the Province of Tierra del Fuego
